Steven Johnson & the First Coffeehouses

The first coffee houses were created in England. They were meeting places for the intellectuals: poets, journalists and politicians came to think and share ideas with their colleagues.

Steve Johnson, in an inspiring TED talk, explains how London coffee houses were a spot for good ideas and innovation, as coffee became a very popular alternative to alcohol, given the fact that water was not healthy to drink.

These days cafés are still a place for the intellectual and the creative to think, create and share ideas surrounded by the noises of other conversations and the smell of coffee freshly brewe espresso coffee.

A space for intimacy and solitude among strangers, but also a place for gathering and eternal talks.
